A lot of work has been going on since my last update. Two more series started and one finished in the past two years. I will be posting pics and info on the pieces soon. For now all my recent work can be found on my FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/arsdracona/
The series is complete. There are 15 total pieces, with seven representing the Virtues of Bushido, seven geisha figures and the final piece representing Samurai and Geisha. Each figure has the Japanese kanji symbol on the back, representing the Virtue and/or the name of the piece.
Each figure is a handbuilt clay form with a crackle glaze and ink finish. The dragons are silver plated copper wire in permanent colors. The swords are cut from aluminum strips and finished with cast pewter tsuba (hand guards) and ribbon wrapped tsuka (hilt). Beads, chain and various other materials are used for the hair decorations on the figures.

Changing directions. It’s taken me a while to find that elusive something–whether it’s writing or webcomics or drawing or sculpture. But recently I’ve struck upon Inspiration. I’ve started a sculpture series using clay figures and wire dragons–the best of two worlds–and I’m calling it Bushido & Geisha. All the swords, fans and other accessories are for the most part handmade. I’ll be posting photos and comments here as well as on my FB page. Hopefully I will still add stories and such from time to time, but for now it’s going to be sculpture…
Each figure will have a Japanese kanji symbol, representing different qualities or attributes, tattooed somewhere on it. This first one is called “Tranquility.”
The second one is called “Strength.”
I have several more in the works and hope to have them finished and posted within the next few weeks.
I am working on a new story about…well, you’ll see…but the format is different for me. It is a complete work of fiction, but told through the accounts of people somehow involved with the main character and the main action. Some are directly involved, and others not so much. I am excited to see how it unfolds.
The working title for the story is Chasing Dragons. It’s in the menu bar at the top and each story will be underneath the title. Click on the title itself for the intro.
Having just posted my first piece of prose, I am hopeful that this will incite me to take up my writing again. Dragon Dreams is a piece that I wrote in 1998, but it’s had a few tweaks since then. It seemed pretty appropriate to lead off with and hopefully set me on the right path.
I intend this to be the first post of many. To follow will be stories, cartoons & comics, artwork and assorted musings & meanderings.
